Scratch art technique


I have a large amount of people think that the color is already involved in my pieces. Nope, I have to put all the color in.

Step 1: On the special board I first paint in my background (makes my life easier), next step is I paint in the composition with black ink. See above photo.


Step 2: I start scratching out the subjects with an exacto blade type knife.



A little more scratching has been achieved. I will be posting the final scratched piece in my next post.
I hope this explains more of how I create these pieces.

Goldfinches and sunflowers







This is a large piece, 12"x16". It took quite a lot of work to do - but I love it! Enormous amount of detail work.






This one is heading to Wickwire fine art/folk art Gallery in Hendersonville.
