Judy Tuthill - Fine Art Photography

"For as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed taking pictures and admiring the art and skill of photography. For me, my photography is capturing the beauty of the moment - photographing what I see - photographing what I feel photographing what is real to me. By "real" I mean capturing what the eye sees using little or no digital enhancement. I always try to make my images as true to the subject as possible. My photography is an expression as well as a record of my life's experiences."    - Judy Tuthill

I recently met with Hal and Laura Mahan of The Compleat Naturalist Nature History Store in Historic Biltmore Village. They are amazing people!
They have accepted my scratch art into their store and Gallery. I am very excited!

Scratch art technique

I have a large amount of people think that the color is already involved in my pieces. Nope, I have to put all the color in.

Step 1: On the special board I first paint in my background (makes my life easier), next step is I paint in the composition with black ink. See above photo.

Step 2: I start scratching out the subjects with an exacto blade type knife.

A little more scratching has been achieved. I will be posting the final scratched piece in my next post.
I hope this explains more of how I create these pieces.
